STEM Camp Photo Showcase

The SCPS STEM Summer Camps were made possible through the Advancing Computer Science Education (ACSE) grant, and implemented in cooperation with the Southside Virginia Regional Technology Cooperative (SVRTC) and Longwood University's Institute for Teaching through Technology and Innovative Practices (ITTIP). Camps are designed to allow students an intensive immersion in topics on robotics, coding, and computer science centered on hands-on engagement with one or more robotics systems, via a small-class experience geared for no more than a 1:8 student:teacher ratio. The Lego Spike, Root, and Sphero Mini robotics systems were the centerpieces of the camp for our rising 4th and 5th graders. 

Each camp features a Q & A session with a professional scientist or engineer. Our rising 4th and 5th graders spoke with Darien Becker, a wetland ecologist and educator, who shared her varied experiences with wetland research and education.
